Describe an important conversation.
You should say:
when it was
who was in the conversation
what it is about
and explain why it is important.
When I was a kid, I was hardly a model student. I had an older brother who was a bit of a rebel, he’d go out drinking and smoking and causing trouble, and I guess some of his bad behaviour rubbed off on me.
I can remember when I was a teenager, I must have been around 17, I had taken my university entrance exam but my grades were dismal. My parents were distraught, they had had such high hopes for me and I remember my mum being in floods of tears. My dad sat me down and we had a long conversation about my future and the direction I was heading in. He calmly told me I had a second chance to repeat the test and make my family proud. He said that I should take a long, hard look at myself and picture where I wanted to be in 10 years time.
At first I dug in my heels, but eventually my father’s words sank in and I realised I needed to knuckle down and study. I hit the books hard and over the course of the year I was more and more prepared. In the end, I got a good grade and was able to attend university.
I feel like that was one of the most important conversations I’ve ever had. I knew that he was speaking from the heart and that I couldn’t disappoint him any longer. My dad’s words of wisdom were a real wake-up call and it turned out to be a major turning point in my life.

Last year when I was on my way to my hometown in a train, I had an interesting conversation with an unknown person and the conversation lasted for several hours. I live in the city and my hometown is about 7-8 hours away from the place I live. I usually go to my hometown by bus but that time I travelled in a train. I was in a second class compartment of the train and there were almost 10 other people travelling in the same compartment. I found a couple with 2 kids were sitting just opposite side of me next to me was sitting a person who seemed around 45 years old. I was sitting beside the window and he asked me to open it. He then thanked me and asked me about myself. The conversation went on and I learned that he is a senior employee of a large Government organization. I was bit confused that he was travelling in a second class compartment at cheap rent.
He started a topic about how the kids and young people from the new generation have little passion on learning and busy doing unproductive staffs. I started defensing the young generation and expresses the difference the new generation has with their ancestors. The conversation started to turn into a debate and both of us used our logic and reasoning. The conversation was interesting and I was actively participating on it mostly because he had good and polite way of conversation. He told his reasoning for this belief but when I showed him my logic, he did not protest just for the conversation’s sake. Rather he agree that he learned many new facts about the new generation and their way of thinking and lifestyles. He also confessed that the generation gap is unavoidable and the positive changes should be accepted by them. Besides this main topic some other topic arrived like the political situation of our country, the educational system currently we have and what should be done to eliminate many of your major problems.
The conversation lasted for about 4 hours until he left the train at his station. I usually do not continue longer conversation with strangers and often find people start talking about silly issues with no moral values. But the conversation I had with this person in the train was interesting and I enjoyed it. I felt like there is a big gap between the first generation and the new generation and both generations do not listen and think deeply about the other generation and that’s causing a huge gap between them. I enjoyed to learn many thought of our first generations and was appalled about some of the misconceptions. I was also relived to learn that they have a positive attitude towards the changes which are for good reasons. His way of conversation was also positive and that’s why the overall conversation was enjoyable.

I’d like to tell you about somebody I met online a couple of weeks ago. This person lives in another country and we met in a Skype chat group. We were there to practice speaking English.
There were about six of us at the time. There was one person in particular that I thought was very interesting, and she spoke very good English, so I asked to chat with her after the session and that’s when we really chatted a lot and got to know each other a little better.
She was from Switzerland and she was a student, her name was Inga. For me she was very interesting because her life is very different from mine. I have two sisters, but I don’t really spend that much time with them, but this girl was definitely interesting to chat to.
She is a student at university, doing a Masters Degree in Business Administration, which is sort of similar to what I would like to do in the future. We first started chatting because we have a common interest – salsa dancing.
For me it’s the most natural thing in the world because my mother was a dance teacher so I grew up learning all different types of dance and salsa was always one of my favorites.
Inga is taking salsa lessons in her hometown, her teacher is from somewhere in Cuba, I can’t remember the name of the city, but he’s a professional dancer and also gives classes in a dance school. We spent quite some time discussing different steps and techniques- it was fun.
I found Inga interesting because her lifestyle is completely different from mine. I have never been to Europe and some of the things she was describing were amazing.
I think I’d like to visit and see what it’s like for myself. It was intriguing to learn some things about another person’s life, country and culture. I get the impression that Europe is very different from the USA. So that's my story about an interesting person I met recently.

You should say:
When it happened
What you were looking for
Where you were searching on the Internet
And how you felt about the information
The Internet has become an integral part of our lives. Young generation now spends most of its time on the internet. Like others, I also use the internet for various purposes. Most of the time I see what my friends and family have posted on Whatsapp or Facebook.
Here, I would like to talk about a time when I searched for information about how to repair the computer. During the final year of my graduation, it was a Sunday evening and the next morning I had to submit a project in my college. The project was an application/ software which could be used for conducting online exams of students. I had already made that software so on that evening when I started my PC to check whether my software is working fine, the computer showed a blank screen. I restarted my computer many times but it was still showing a blank screen. I went to all local computer repair shops but because of Sunday, they all were close. So finally I thought of repairing it myself.
YouTube is the second largest search engine for all types of creative projects and solution for your problems. So I searched on YouTube “reasons of blank screen on the computer”. There were many people who were giving different reasons of why one can have a blank screen on the computer. Most of them suggested that before doing any major change in your computer hardware, first take the RAM out of your computer, clean it with a soft cloth or a rubber and then reinstall it. There are likely chances that your computer screen will start working. I did the same thing; I took the RAM out, cleaned it and then reinstalled it. After installing the RAM, I switched on my computer and everything started functioning normally the screen was on. It was a great relief for me because now I could check whether my online exam software was working as it should be.
I check it and it was working fine. On the next day, I went to the college and demonstrated my project to the teachers. So the internet gave me the solution to my problem and I was really happy on that day.
