　　副词almost, nearly

　　1)almost, nearly将近 是同义词。比如：

　　It was almost/nearly lunch time when we returned to ourschool.

　　我们回到学校时已差不多午餐时间了。

　　The baby is almost/nearly a year old, but it can’t talk yet.

　　这个婴儿差不多一岁了，但还不会说话。

　　She almost touched him, almost,so close it made her grin.

　　她差一点就碰到他了，就差那么一点点，她禁不住得意地笑起来。

　　Use of public transportation is the highest it has been in almost 60 years in almost every American city.

　　几乎每一个美国城市的公共交通使用率都达到近60年来的最高水平。

　　2)含有否定意义的结构中只能用almost，不能用nearly。比如：

　　The boy almost never missed a football game on TV.

　　这个男孩几乎从未错过一场电视上的足球赛。

　　Almost no student wanted to see the play again.

　　几乎没有学生想再看一遍这个戏。

　　So at the same time almost no one and almost everyone had PMS.

　　也就是说在同时，要么几乎没人经前综合征，要么几乎人人都有。
