重庆高考英语真题2017及英语高考模拟试题(2)

刘惠分享

  D

Getting rid of dirt, in the opinion of most people, is a good thing. However, there is nothing fixed about attitudes to dirt.

In the early 16th century, people thought that dirt on the skin was a means to block out disease, as medical opinion had it that washing off dirt with hot water could open up the skin and let ills in. A particular danger was thought to lie in public baths. By 1538, the French king had closed the bath houses in his kingdom. So did the king of England in 1546. Thus began a long time when the rich and the poor in Europe lived with dirt in a friendly way. Henry IV, King of France, was famously dirty. Upon learning that a nobleman had taken a bath, the king ordered that, to avoid the attack of disease, the nobleman should not go out.

Though the belief in the merit of dirt was long-lived, dirt has no longer been regarded as a nice neighbor ever since the 18th century. Scientifically speaking, cleaning away dirt is good to health. Clean water supply and hand washing are practical means of preventing disease. Yet, it seems that standards of cleanliness have moved beyond science since World War Ⅱ. Advertisements repeatedly sell the idea: clothes need to be whiter than white, cloths ever softer, surfaces to shine. Has the hate for dirt, however, gone too far?

Attitudes to dirt still differ hugely nowadays. Many first-time parents nervously try to warn their children off touching dirt, which might be responsible for the spread of disease. On the contrary, Mary Ruebush, an American immunologist(免疫学家),encourages children to play in the dirt to build up a strong immune system. And the latter position is gaining some ground.

32.The kings of France and England in the 16th century closed bath houses because .

  A. they lived healthily in a dirty environment.

  B. they believed disease could be spread in public baths.

  C. they thought bath houses were too dirty to stay in.

  D. they considered bathing as the cause of skin disease.

32.Which of the following best describes Henry IV’s attitude to bathing?

  A. Uninterested. B. Curious. C. Approving. D. Afraid.

34.How does the passage mainly develop?

  A. By providing examples. B. By making comparisons.

  C. By following the order of time. D. By following the order of importance.

35.What is the author’s purpose in writing the passage?

  A. To call attention to the danger of dirt. B. To introduce the history of dirt.

  C. To present the change of views on dirt. D. To stress the role of dirt.

  第二节(共5小题;每小题2分,满分10 分)

  根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。

Building Your Business, Building Your People

What an exciting thing to do—developing a successful business! 36 . Here are four ideas to keep in mind that can make a significant difference in a team:

   Understand your people

37 . What do they need in their work environment to improve their mental well-being? What are their fears and concerns, and how can I help them manage these fears and concerns? What are their values and goals?

  38 .

During my early years in management, I realized the great power of expectations. As I found, people largely lived up to my expectation of them. So I learned that if I want to build my business through my people, I have to build their own belief in their ability to achieve. This belief must be educated. If I want them to achieve more, I must help them build their trust in themselves first.

   Develop people’s recognition

Whenever I speak and give advice to people, they tell me they don’t get enough recognition. Sad, isn’t it? But how much recognition they give to others? In fact, recognition could be developed by praising and appreciating each other in a team. 39 .Teach your team to ask for the opinions of others if they’re not receiving recognition.

 Encourage people to be creative

40 , or at least the way we’ve settled for it. Those who have been told they are creative will probably use their creativity bravely. Others who haven’t had their creativity encouraged will mostly believe they are uncreative. I suggest you encourage your people to be creative and brave in trying out new ideas.

  A. I’m reminded every day of some important ideas for progress

  B. We have created our life just the way we choose to have it

  C. Encourage people to expect success

  D. Develop recognition so that both the business and the people can grow

  E. Help people build self-confidence

  F. If I want my team to go and grow with me, I need to find out what excites them

  G. Encourage everyone in your team to recognize achievements in others

  注意:本题(36-40)答案勿填涂在答题卡上,而是写在第二卷相应的位置上。
