and the world seems dark and empty,

Your forever friend lifts you up in spirits and makes that dark and empty world suddenly seem bright and full.

Your forever friend gets you through the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times.

convince: make you believe 使信服，使确信
convince someone
It's hard to convince your father that it's a good time to buy you a car when you're under age(未成年的).
lift someone up：激励，举起
lift: vt. 举起，提升，鼓舞; 电梯(上下的直梯)
You gotta lift yourself up even when the whole world give you up.
cheers you on 鼓励， 为某人打气
gets you through the hard times, the sad times, and the confused times
get through：熬过(艰难的时期)
A: I got divorced last year. 我去年离婚了。
B: How did you get through it? 你是怎么挺过来的?
