上海

上海人习惯大年初一早晨第一顿饭一定要吃汤圆，意味新年圆圆满满，而且要有汤水，寓意有财有势。
广东
除夕前人们便忙碌张罗备办各式年货了：买鸡、鹅、鸭、鱼肉;添制新衣饰;新购家具、器皿;选购年画、春联等。尤其要买柑桔、青橄榄等水果作象征吉祥如意和迎送亲友的佳果。旧俗过年前，男必新理发，女必“挽面”，现女子多为剪发美容。
东北三省
首先全家一起祭祖，焚香秉烛、 广陈供品，依尊卑长幼，向宗亲三代神主叩首，表示辞岁。随后，举行家宴，长辈们坐了上首，晚辈们团团而坐，取“阖第团圆”之意。饭果必要丰富，让人有充实感，预示来年丰衣足食，事业兴旺。
福建
闽南一带乡村过年习俗显得与城市不尽相同。乡村农家，房多门多，除了贴春联外，房门两侧还要搁置两株圈贴红纸的连根甘蔗，叫“门蔗”，方言“蔗”与“佳” 近音，寓意进入佳境。厅堂中案桌摆有隔年饭、长年菜、发糕，并插上用红、黄两色纸扎的“春枝”，寓意饭菜长年丰足，吉祥发财。
春节的来历
